The Account Director assists clients in the design and development of their communication strategy - this is therefore a profile that is mainly found in advertising sales and in agencies. He organizes the implementation of services based on the skills of the team. He develops the agency's prospecting operations based on the ideas and arguments (images, sounds, slogans, drawings, etc.) proposed by the creatives, then leads the advertising campaign strategy by analyzing the needs targets
It is in the communication sector that the account manager works. His position is at the junction between the agency that employs him and his clients (advertisers). Its role is to produce communication campaigns. Its mission has three orientations: sales, advice and management. In the commercial part, he is responsible for developing his client portfolio and retaining existing ones. To do this, he presents and promotes the projects of the agency's creatives to advertisers and responds to calls for tenders from potential clients. It ensures a permanent watch with the competition to avoid the loss of customers to the profit of another agency. He establishes a relationship of trust with the advertisers who entrust him with a budget to carry out the planned campaign. Its consulting mission is to help its client to refine and formalize his needs.
The Account Director organizes meetings to determine the strategies that will be implemented during the campaign. He draws up the specifications which contain his proposals and which specifies the target, the guideline, the themes and the means of the project. After validation by the advertiser, the customer manager is responsible for supervising the development of the communication campaign. He leads the project to completion by supervising the creation and production teams. He then carries out the assessment and analysis of the communication operation put in place.

It is possible to integrate communication schools such as CELSA, ISCOM to become Account Director or higher business schools with specialization in media, marketing or communication. Before assuming the duties of Customer Director, it is recommended to have acquired professional experience as an Advertising Manager or Group Manager.
The Account Director can become Consulting Director or Sales Director and thus be part of the general management. He can also progress to the functions of Associate Communication Agency Director or create his own agency.
