Lead Backend Engineer

The client is an inventory optimisation platform that helps brands like From Future, Kimai, and Tajinebanane predict their inventory needs to reduce stockouts, improve margins, and save time.

They are on a mission to transform the inventory optimisation experience by democratising access to predictive technologies for the growing & underserved community of small-to-mid-sized e-commerce brands. They are backed by Techstars New York and world class angel investors.

the role

You'll be joining the client's founding team. You'll be here at the beginning of a great story. This is a pivotal role for the company, and you will be part of the foundation on which they'll continue to build their engineering organisation as they grow. As a Full-stack Web Engineer joining at this early stage, you'll be in a position to influence the direction of the product, the technologies and processes of the engineering team, and the culture of the company.

What you'll be building 

You'll take ownership on the design and implementation of the database model and the cloud architecture. You'll help write and maintain efficient and secure APIs and you'll set up killer CI/CD pipelines. They're an early stage startup which means there is always an opportunity to step outside of the engineering comfort zone. For example, managing customer relationships, working on external documentation, and contributing to open-source communities we benefit from.

• You believe engineers must serve customers and not vice-versa.
• You'll have a good experience with everything related to the word "database" (SQL and No-SQL). We're using mongoDB at the moment.
• You're good at designing efficient API.
• You have a strong opinion on technical and product topics, but you’re flexible and open-minded.
• You've worked in a team before and built entire applications or features that customers loved.
• You don't expect to see a list of tasks to do but a list of problems to solve.
• You have experience in cloud architecture and deployment (AWS is a must).
• You know that cloud run is not an actual cloud that runs but a serverless deployment tool.
• You are not afraid of infrastructure or automation.
• "You know that you do not know".
• You're a python lover.
