The Chief Marketing Officer is responsible for overseeing the planning, development and execution of an organization's marketing and advertising initiatives. Reporting directly to the CEO, the primary responsibility of the Marketing Director is to generate revenue by increasing sales through successful marketing for the entire organization, using market research, pricing, marketing product, marketing communications, advertising and public relations. In many cases, the role of the CMO is broadened to include sales management, new business development, product development, channel management and customer service. The CMO ensures that the organization's message is delivered through the right channels in order to achieve sales goals. Today that means looking for new ways to deliver messages, such as mobile platforms, video, and social media.

 

As a senior marketing professional, the Chief Marketing Officer should be both analytical and creative, with in-depth knowledge in various disciplines such as production, information technology, law and finance. The CMO often plans, directs and coordinates marketing budgets in accordance with organizational goals.

TRAINING

The Chief Marketing Officer has generally followed a course in business school with a specialization in marketing or has completed a university course and obtained a master's degree (bac +5) in marketing. However, other courses are possible, provided you have followed a specialization in marketing. This position is accessible by having at least 5 years of experience in marketing.

 

OPPORTUNITIES

Depending on the size of the company in which he is, the Chief Marketing Officer may progress to a position of Director of Strategy or Director of Digital.

 

WAGES

Junior: 55-65 K € (0 to 3 years of experience)

Confirmed: 60-85 K € (4 to 8 years of experience)

Senior: 80-110 K € (8 years old and over)
