I went to a preparatory class in Montpellier, and that’s where I met my first associate Dylan. I got in the EM Lyon (where I’m currently doing my last year). I worked in Marketing for Seat, in Consulting for an investment fund, and in the meantime, I started a few projects during my studies. Freshr was born during my gap year!
Freshr in the best channel to remain informed without losing much time. Our users need to stay updated on the news, but they have little time for themselves, so they want to spend as little time as possible on that task. Freshr offers them a daily selection of personalized news, straight in their Facebook Messenger.
As students, we wanted to make our users win some time. Back then, the project was still quite vague ; all we know was that we wanted to work on a global solution rather than a product, a solution that would help us with all the things we don’t have time for. During the first six months, we set up a personalized assistance service via text messages, to test ideas. We received requests for cleaning, pressing delivery… It was quite broad! The day we pushed the idea of the news, numbers got up to the roof and we soon realized it was the winning subject: in less than a month, we had gathered as many users as what we got during the 6 previous months!
The first that comes to my mind is the financial aspect. We have enough to hire our first interns, but we don’t get any money ourselves…
The second one is: when you start as a young entrepreneur, you have no credibility, nor do you have a network (all you have really is your will to move forward!). We learnt to only count on ourselves. We chose to focus solely on our users, to always offer them an experience better than the day before. We thought that if our users where happy, the network would grow by itself. And that’s exactly what happened: the community grew, the press became interested and we removed the barriers of our lack of network. We also gained a lot of credibility!
With the little perspective that I have today, I’d definitely say that our greatest strength is the team’s cohesiveness. We are above all a group of friends, we stay late at the office because we like it there, we have a good time! Starting a business is hard and takes a lot of energy, but it becomes a pleasure because we’re all in the same boat: we stay focused, we share the same vision (to make our users happy)! The great feedbacks we get from our users are making us want to push our limits, because that’s what we’re in this for!
Notre bot est développé en Python & Django pour le framework du dashboard. On utilise PostgreSQL comme base de données, et notre API récupère les résultats de la requêtes en Json.
Fresh is innovative because it’s not a medium but a platform, a technology that positions between our great writers (who gather content, sort it, and deliver it to the right person), and our users (who don’t have much time but still want to stay informed and receive relevant content that adapt to their taste continuously).
All we’ve done since the beginning has been done for our users. They’re the ones calling the shots. That is why we are going to succeed.
Freshr is online on Messenger since March 2017
